Nick Marx
Nick
Marx is Wildlife Rescue Director at Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre,
and is an animal husbandry specialist. He has more than thirty years
experience with species such as tigers, lions, cheetahs, leopards,
orang utans, gibbons and elephants as well as other mammals. He has
worked in the UK, India and South America as well as in south east
Asia, in park management, wildlife conservation and animal care. He
advises the Wildlife Rapid Rescue Team on dealing with human-animal
conflicts and providing care for animals rescued from the illegal wildlife
trade and has contributed to Phnom Tamao achieving a high standard
of care and welfare for the stream of animals that constantly arrive.
Many of the confiscations have suffered appalling injuries from snares
and limbs have to be amputated - Nick has helped with the design and
fitting of various prosthetic devices to ensure the animals can continue
to have a good quality of life even though they could no longer survive
in the wild.
